The Halia at Raffles Hotel

I was invited down for food tasting at The Halia at Raffles Hotel awhile back. For those who find the name familiar, The Halia at Raffles Hotel is an urban, casual-chic sibling of the award-winning Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Opened in November 2012, the restaurant is located at another iconic Singaporean venue, the historic Raffles Hotel.

I was thrilled to have a chance to try out their weekend brunch specials menu which changes weekly!

They have an extensive beverage menus with a large variety of cocktails and other drinks! A popular favourite is the Singapore Sling by Hendrick’s, a signature cocktail based on the original recipe but given a twist with the inclusion of Hendrick’s Gin, an ultra-premium cucumber and rose infused gin, and a secret orange liqueur.

We started off with the Potato Fries with Truffle Aioli and Piquant Mayo ($8++), which is an ala cart menu item but also available during brunch. I like how this fries comes with 2 different dips and it’s really delicious!!

Polenta Coated Asparagus with Basil Lemon Mayo ($9++)
I’m not really a fan of Asparagus but I actually like how it’s battered and fried to perfection.

Grilled breakfast with any style eggs ($23++)
A sumptuous spread of Italian pork sausage, sweetened bacon, Portobello mushrooms, vine tomatoes and toasted sourdough, served with eggs cooked to one’s fancy. We were served 2 different sets with different style of egg (scrambled and sunny side-up) and this is just one of the sets! I’m a huge fan of such traditional breakfast sets and my favourite in this dish is the sweetened bacon! So so yummy.

White bean Iberico chorizo leek stew ($16++)

Sous-vide wagyu rump cap ($36++)
One of my favourites!! Love how the meat is topped with salt sprinkles and melts in your mouth. The mashed potato that comes with it tastes so good as well. Definitely something I’d come back for again.

Sticky toffee pudding ($10++)

Sticky chocolate brownie ($12++)

I actually prefer the sticky chocolate brownie to the sticky toffee pudding, probably cos it’s less thick but both are not too sweet unlike other desserts I’ve tried before.

Pancake with bacon butter, fresh strawberries and puree ($12++)

Pancakes that’s made fresh and served with bacon butter, fresh strawberries and puree. Another of my favourites too! The pancakes are so fluffy and nice and the bacon butter that’s served with it tastes really unique too. No wonder it’s a popular favourite in their brunch menu!

Brunch menu is served from 11am – 5.30pm on weekends and Public Holidays! (: As mentioned earlier, the brunch specials are updated weekly to allow Head Chef Ciaran Armstrong and his team the flexibility and creativity to work with available ingredients, so each visit brings a little surprise!
